Award-winning freelancer Jose Miguel Calatayud discusses the nuts and bolts of managing cross-border investigations.

This online training session was restricted to the grantees of the IJ4EU Freelancer Support Scheme. It took place on 14 May at 10 CEST.

The 1,5-hour long online session on project and team management in cross-border investigation focused on designing a collaborative investigation, managing it effectively and how to make the best of interdisciplinary collaboration. It was led by Jose Miguel Calatayud.

About the speaker

Jose Miguel Calatayud is a freelance journalist and writer based in Berlin, focusing on feature writing and investigative journalism, mainly about Europe. Currently, he is working on a series of stories on how corporations act strategically to achieve political influence in the EU. And up to July 2024, as a recipient of a European Journalism Fellowship by the Free University Berlin, he will also be working on a project to develop an investigative methodology that he calls, “Follow the Governance”

 In 2020-21, he was a co-initiator and the coordinator of the IJ4EU-supported cross-border project Cities for Rent: Investigating Corporate Landlords Across Europe, which in 2022 won the European Press Prize Innovation Award. Read more about his work at https://josemcalatayud.net
